Filters, description

Filters are devices that isolate signals within a frequency range, whether in kHz, MHz or GHz. They are used to keep unwanted signals and noise energy from reaching the target circuit. Having two ports, an input and an output, most passive filters are bidirectional, in other words, their input and output can be used interchangeably. Most active filters, however, can only be used as designated (unidirectional).
