UC-3404-381 MUOS Antenna
UHF MUOS X-Wing Description
UHF MUOS Antenna model UC-3404-381 is a lightweight Turnstile/X-Wing radiating element tuned for MUOS Satellite operation. The polarization of this antenna is normally Right Hand Circular (RHCP), intended for new waveform (WCDMA) communications via MUOS satellites worldwide. Various accessories and kits enable the use of this item for portable, tactical and fixed/large platform applications. We are happy to guide you on combinations of our offerings to suit a particular application. For example, you may create a mast mounted +5 dBic MUOS antenna by combining two UC-3404-381 X-wings and a Superdirective SPLU-3002-711 combiner, producing a mast mountable solution, not requiring a ground plane (see SPLU-3002-700 for an image of the mast mounting interface). Contact us for ideas on how to tailor our various UHF Satcom products to meet your mission, or for any customizations. We also offer a MUOS LNA + Filter that may be attached directly to the antenna feedpoint for additional gain and sensitivity in receive-only applications.
Important X-Wing Polarization Note:
The region opposite the RF connector has the specified polarization (Green, RHCP in the photo above). The polarization is opposite in the hemisphere below the green region. In the above image, the region below the antenna would be LHCP (Left Hand Circular Polarized). Thus, if you intend to use the antenna in an upside-down configuration, such as an UC-3404-381 + suction cup (ACC-0002) attached to the cockpit of an aircraft (RF connector normally pointing up to the sky), you will need to specify the polarization as LHCP. Contact us if in doubt.
MUOS Antenna Design Modularity and Implementation Philosophy
The design of this MUOS X-Wing is modular. This enables you to use one antenna in multiple ways. For example, mount it on a vehicle, using the High Gain Mount, ACC-0005 and either a magnet (ACC-0003) or a suction cup (ACC-0002). For a more permanent installation, use the standard X-Wing bolt mount (ACC-0008, compatible with AV 2090, 4 hole pattern). After reaching your target area and you dismount the vehicle, you may remove the antenna (with or without the High Gain Mount). Then, attach it to your radio with a Coaxial Cable Assembly for portable use (click here for more cable choices).
